City Net

Kingdom Causes, the regional association of cities, is now City Net. Our new name/logo represents our role as bridge builders among catalytic leaders and collaborative movements in cities throughout Southern California. The net is a web of connectivity, care and concern. Local congregations and other related ministries, organizations, leaders and neighbors are the knots. Our role at City Net is to connect and strengthen the relationships between the knots so that through collaboration and leadership development, community transformation deepens. We share God's heart for cities and our vision is to see a growing number of cities flourishing because together its' residents are building a better community for everyone. As an association of cities and catalytic partners, City Net has created a support network that allows city-level mobilization and partnership to develop and flourish. Our network of cities provides opportunities for shared learning, greater leverage and overall care and support.

Our Values

Christ-centered: The hope for our cities and all who live in them is Jesus. He is the one who sets the focus, direction and purpose of our organization.
Relational: People matter. We value people over programs and relationships over systems. We collaborate and work as bridge-builders regionally within our cities realizing that we are more effective together than independently.
Holistic: The goal is to see cities and the people in them wholly transformed (physically, emotionally, mentally, economically, and spiritually). Our Great Commission as the Church is to both share and demonstrate the Gospel of the Kingdom.
Indigenous: Place matters. Within each city God has already placed most, if not all, the resources necessary to bring about its unique transformation.

Our desired outcomes/objectives at City Net include: Healthy Leaders, Vibrant Church of the City and Thriving Communities.

Our story started in a garden but ends in a CITY:

Jeremiah 29:7 "Seek the peace and prosperity of the city...pray to the Lord for it, because it if prospers, you too will prosper"(NIV)

In this Bible verse, Jeremiah is speaking to his neighbors, encouraging them to not just look at the problems in their city and be frustrated by what is wrong but to make a difference, get involved and be the change…

If we love what God loves, we'll love our cities. God is in our cities, always has been from the beginning. He loves our cities! He loves all the people in the city. In fact, if we are to really look and see, the reality of His love can be found in every neighborhood, event, person and place in the city. Cities are mentioned over 1,200 times in the Bible. Cities mean a lot to God. Today 50% of the world’s population lives in cities and by 2030 that percentage will jump to 70%. Ray Bakke (a professor of cities once said, 'God's story of humanity started in a garden but ends in a city' (Revelation 21). The story of humankind started in the Garden of Eden but at the end of the Bible we are given a picture of a beautifully restored city… the city of God; a place where there is no more suffering, injustice and hopelessness.

God calls us to help build that beautiful city of God now on earth, working for justice, peace and mercy for all in our cities; that is what we do at City Net.

We are joining God in this work. He cares about those who don’t have enough food to eat, those who are lonely in their neighborhood, those that need a job, and those who are in government positions and have heavy responsibilities. God asks us, ‘what is in your neighborhood and city that shouldn’t be?’, ‘what gifts and talents do you have that could bless your city?’ and ‘what are you going to do about that?’ Every person is marked by the love of God as we are made in His image. We are valued and have purpose. God places us in our cities and each one of us has a role to play in bringing God’s hope, love and mercy to the community. God invites you and me to be a part of this exciting adventure of loving our neighbors as ourselves and being a part of the change in the city! Will you join the movement?
